Summary[]

Swiper has a new swiping machine to swipe Tico's birthday presents! Help Super Spies Dora and Boots race to the rescue with new gadgets and new Spy Friends too!

Plot[]

Swiper introduces himself to the viewer and shows him/her his new invention: a super fast swiping machine, something that can help him swipe fast. "Nothing can stop me from swiping!" he says followed by an evil laughter. Soon after, Dora and Boots introduce themselves at the Super Spy Academy and walked over to Señor Tucán who has put new spy gadgets instead of using previous spy gadgets inside of Backpack. There are many spy gadgets, a spy ball that can be bounced to turn into either a boat or a bicycle; a door opener that can open doors quick; Super spy ID cards; a spy camera to take pictures; and a video screen to see all over the forest. Dora, Boots and Señor Tucán call to Spy Star to see what's the next mission, Tico is having a special birthday party at the Nutty Forest and they have a birthday present to give him. All of a sudden, the video screen beeps and they saw Swiper with his swiping machine and tells the viewer that he is going to Tico’s birthday party to swipe every single present from his party. Super Spies Dora and Boots have to go to Nutty Forest to stop him from swiping the presents in their secret mission. They don’t know how to get to Tico's party, so they ask Map for assistance. Map says that they have to go down Underground River and through the Twisty Tunnel to get to Tico's party at the Nutty Forest. So they got going. As they arrive at the underground river, they have to find something to ride down the river, so they look in Backpack. They use the Spy ball to bounce it on the ground and it turned into a boat. They put on their lifejackets to avoid sinking in the river. They tell the boat to go fast, and then Swiper made waves in the river so they had to go slow, after that, he gets way ahead of them. Dora and Boots tell the boat to go super duper fast and it did so as they finish going across the river, Swiper gets very dizzy that he fell onto a branch. Now they have to go through the Twisty Tunnel. As they got there, Diego comes along. He tells them that to get through the tunnel, they have to follow the sound of the bat. There were two paths, the left path has the sound of a snake and the right path has the sound of the bat. The take the path on the right. Now there are three paths. The first one has the sound of crabs clicking, the second one has the sound of the bat and the third path has the sound of a coyote. They take the second path. In no time, they made it out of the tunnel. Super Spies Dora and Boots are getting so close to Tico’s party. They just have to get to the Nutty Forest. Along the way, Swiper is chasing Dora and Boots so they have to use the Spy ball from Backpack and turn it into a spy bike. After that, they have to pedal the bike up to 10 to go super fast. With that done, the bike zooms past Swiper, who went "Oh man!". Now Dora uses the door opener to open the door. However, the door is too small and Dora and Boots will bump their heads if they go through it. Luckily, Dora had a trick, she pull a lever and the bike got shorter. Soon, they arrived at Tico’s party. They warn Tico that Swiper (who he calls a "zorro antipático") is going to swipe all of his presents. They found him and Dora, Boots, Tico, and his family and friends all said "Swiper, no swiping!" three times. Sure enough, they stopped him. Dora puts the cake aside for later and gave him his present. It was a camera shaped like a butterfly. The camera flew up and took itself a picture of Dora and Boots hugging Tico.

Trivia[]

  • The book Swiper, No Swiping! inspired this episode.
  • This is one of the only episodes Swiper appears as the first character to start the episode for once instead of Dora and Boots, and it's also the first episode he introduces himself to the viewer as well, but he doesn't say "Hello" before that, he begins with putting on his mask, gloves, and the super fast swiping gear complete with machine at the back.
    • This is the second episode that Swiper is seen without his mask, the first being Dora's Got a Puppy.
      • Speaking of the aforementioned episode, this episode has connections to it.
        • Swiper wears his gear again
        • He gets stuck in a tree again, just like in Grandma's House and Dora's Got a Puppy.
        • Spy star appears again
        • Both have to do with presents (Perrito's Present, Tico's presents at his birthday)
  • Dora and Boots take their sunglasses off after the viewer tells them where to go first and next. They would put them back on to have the viewer check on Map to figure out where they have to go first and next.
  • Dora and Boots wear sunglasses a few times this episode.
    • Map, the Fiesta Trio, and Diego were also seen wearing sunglasses. Diego alone was also seen wearing a blue spy mask with clear vision for his eyes.
  • This is the 98th episode of the show.
  • During "We Did It!", if one goes by production order:
    • This is the first episode to feature new recordings for the instances of "We did it!", "¡Lo hicimos!", "We Did It!, We Did It, Hooray! and "Yay!, Whoo!, Hooray, We did it!, Whoo!" since Dora and Boots' voices evolved after Season 1.
    • However, the instance of "We did it!" following the mention of what Dora and Boots did keeps the same recording from Season 1 and will stay that way until Season 5.
    • However, since Tico sang the "Yay" and "Lo hicimos!" with Dora, the new recordings can't clearly be heard.
  • This is the first episode Dora and/or Boots don't appear as the first characters to begin the episode. This will happen again in Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure.
  • In production order:
    • This is Spy Star's first appearance.
    • This is the first of only three episodes to use the star pocket with the "Bonus Map segments" format.
    • This is the first time Dora and Boots' voice actors voiced another character besides them; in this case, they provide voices for the squirrels at Tico's party.
      • This is also the first time Diego's voice actor voiced someone else besides him, also providing vocals for the squirrels.
  • Dora and Boots don't sing the original Travel Song in this episode, it's the second episode they sing the Super Spy Travel Song just like they did in the Season 2 episode Super Spies and they only sing it once instead of twice, because Swiper is on to them wanting to swipe Tico's presents at his birthday party.
    • However, even if they did the second time, he would most likely cut them off in the middle of them singing it.
    • In addition, when Dora and Boots are saying the places to go, they strike poses which allude to each respective location.
    • Unlike the first Super Spies, Dora and Boots' utterances of "Where are we going?" have been rerecorded, and the clapping sound is different.
  • Dora and Boots somehow stop Swiper throughout the episode but they don't say "Swiper, no swiping!" during the episode until the end when they're at Tico's birthday party.
  • Agent Map does not zoom wipe at all in this episode.
  • Even though Dora and Boots got their chance stopping Swiper from ruining Tico's birthday party and swiping all his presents, he still got his super swiping gear and technically had his chance while they're saying "Swiper, no swiping!" so he could still swipe everything very easily, but still he's too late anyway.
  • This episode aired on March 14, 2008 as part of the hour-long event "Dora Undercover Spies" with Super Spies airing first followed by this episode.
    • Additionally that event also encored daily the week Swiper the Explorer premiered.
  • This is the fourth episode where a magnifying glass is seen during the Map segment, following ¡Por Favor!, A Crown for King Juan el Bobo, and Baby Jaguar's Roar.
  • In this episode, when Dora and Boots put their life jackets on, the life jackets open outward as they throw them up before they fasten around their bodies; in most episodes, Dora and Boots simply slip the life jackets over their heads without opening them.
  • This is the second time Tico called Swiper a "zorro antipático", or "unfriendly fox" in Spanish, after "We're a Team!".
  • In airing order, this is the last episode to feature the Explorer Stars and their mini-games.
  • When this episode first aired in 2008, it later premiered on Toggolino and Noggin that same year
  • Daisy, Alicia, Baby Jaguar, Mama Jaguar, Abuela, Mami, Papi, and The Big Red Chicken were the only ones not invited to Tico's birthday party or congratulate the International Super Spies on saving his presents from Swiper.
  • This is the second Season 4 episode to premiere in 2008 after The Shy Rainbow.
  • This episode premiered in the United States the same day Swiper the Explorer premiered in Canada
  • Although it premiered in 2005 (on Nick Jr. UK) and 2008 (on DVD, Nickelodeon and Noggin), it was made in 2003 according to the credits.

Goofs/Errors[]

  • Unlike all other episodes, after Dora and Boots made it across the Underground River, the Fiesta Trio played their extended fanfare (which usually starts the We Did It! song at the end of the episode) instead of their regular one.
  • When Dora is introducing herself, her right arm (viewer's left) briefly becomes the same color as her shirt.
  • In the Twisty Tunnel and during the We Did It! song, Diego wears a special spy mask that are blue and have clear vision for the eyes. However, after going through the Twisty Tunnel, Diego puts on the same kind of sunglasses Dora and Boots wear.
  • Glowy Star doesn't appear in this episode, she only appears in the end credits doing her mini game instead of Character Find, Because Spy Star doesn't have his own mini game.
  • Benny and Isa were shown bringing presents to Tico's party through the camera, but when Dora and Boots arrive at the party, Benny and Isa are not there. It's very likely they left before Dora and Boots got there.
  • When Boots is telling the viewer to say Map, it uses the audio from season 2.
